Unifying Quantum Field Theory and Gravity

Our research group concentrates on high energy particle physics, gravitation and attempts to unify the description of all forces of nature.

The high energy group studies all aspects of quantum field theory. The Standard Model describing the electroweak and strong forces between elementary particles is a field theory, but we also scrutinize related quantum field theories, including conformal field theories, supersymmetric quantum field theories and integrable models.

Our group also researches the theory of general relativity that governs the laws of gravitation. General relativity is crucial in our understanding of the interactions between masses from small scales to the scale of our universe. The theory of gravitation is important in both our understanding of the cosmic microwave background as well as gravitational waves.

Moreover, we investigate theories that attempt to unify our understanding of all interactions, and in particular string theory. This implies the study of theories of supergravity, and other extensions of the Standard Model, as well as the theoretical study of holography and unitary evolution in the presence of black holes.
