Description
The AdS/CFT correspondence, since its discovery in 1997, has provided valuable insights into the physics of strongly interacting systems. It permits one to do calculation at strong coupling using elegant techniques of classical gravity on asymptotically Anti-de-Sitter spaces. For planar N=4 super-Yang-Mills theory such calculations are accurate at large 't Hooft coupling. The full solution of the planar AdS/CFT system at any coupling was recently obtained with the help of integrability methods. In case of QCD, the AdS/CFT correspondence has inspired a number of phenomenological models. The model calculations of scattering amplitudes, the hadron spectrum, thermodynamic and transport properties of the quark-gluon plasma reached into the regimes inaccessible by standard tools of perturbation theory or lattice simulations. Another promising recent development is application of the AdS/CFT duality to model condensed-matter systems.
The workshop is intended to bring together specialists working on various aspects of the AdS/CFT correspondence, and will include the following topics:
- applications of AdS/CFT to QCD
- AdS/CFT duality for condensed matter systems
- exact results in AdS/CFT
